Pedro from Salvador: You should definitely get to know Mr. Marcelo Adnet (6)

Rio de Janeiro-born comedian Marcelo Adnet, who gained nationwide notoriety on MTV, is a well-travelled gent who likes to bully easy targets like, say, the Americans:

That same well-travelled funnyman takes one matter very seriously: his apparently gratuitous fondness of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Apparently gratuitous, I said, for Mr Adnet speaks the language, knows the country, and cheers and sings along with the ultras, as the supporters of this little Balkan country are known.

“I remember the day they qualified to the World Cup very well: October 15th, 2013,” Mr Adnet reminisces as he re-enacts Ibišević’s winning goal against the Lithuanians.

Between Iranian and Bosnian fans, Brazilians like Adnet were definitely the majority. But festive Persians partying around Salvador’s Historic Centre were still an easy sight:

Towards the end of the night a Brazilian couple was seen protesting our world-known police brutality by wearing prop blood-soaked clothes before a row of cops, who in turn wanted to prove the peaceful demonstrators wrong by, well, arresting the crap out of them.

A passer-by who decided to get it on tape was cornered against a dark alley and had his camera broken by the cops. He was black, as were the law enforcers.

I decided to improvise a little social experiment right there: what if my girlfriend, a blue-eyed Caucasian, started recording the action just like the black guy did? Was she going to get arrested, too? Were they going to thrash her equipment, too?
