Hi All, I don't know if you are aware, but June is the month of Saint John (São João in Portuguese). It's a typical party where people dance a lot of forró and eat typical food based on corn, more celebrated here in the Northeast of Brazil. The decoration of Saint John is made with flags and balloons in different colors, but this year specially, the predominant colors are green and yelllow to support Brazil in the World cup. This is one more attractive from Recife in the World Cup, beyond the cultural places and the matches, tourists could look for Saint John's parties to try some typical food and dance a lot of forró! Viva São João!
Oh wait?! We here to talk about the World cup and today it really starts in Recife 2014/06/14 will be the second day which Recife receives (the first time was in 1950, in the match between Chile and USA) a World cup match: Côte D'ivorie vs Japan at 22:00 (local time). The day is cloudy and the forecast is predicting a match under rain this night.
Recife since yesterday was invaded by Japanese and they're are seen everywhere, at Boa Viagem beach, in Downtown, in front of the hotel where Japan is staying. And I have the opportunity to meet three of these Japanese, and play footbal with them at Boa Viagem beach. They're really excited for being here during this big event and they're planning to follow Japan in its games.
I am going to the match this night, in the next post I'll post many photos of Pernambuco Arena and describe the feeling of my first World cup match.
