I have taken my daughter to a doctor appointment and the surgery was close to the stadium. Therefore, I stopped by to take this picture. I have already been there in a game of my team, Atlético Mineiro, against Flamengo with other over 100.000 fans. Now its capacity is of just over 62.000 fans.
It is quite funny the expectations of a 6 years old girls in Brazil. Mainly when she has being raised abroad.
I have being taken her to and from school every day in the mornings. You can see the typical vans that take children to school in Brazil when their parents cannot.
I went to a Forró event organized by an organization, which help expatriates in Belo Horizonte to get together, know about the local culture and have some fun. That was a Forró dance night with some basic teaching and a professional presentation. Forró is a typical Brazilian dance, which started spreading in Europe and the USA recently.
Then in the last Saturday, before the World Cup get started I went to the June party (Festa Junina) in my daughter school. Festa Junina has its origins related to the Portuguese colonization, the June parties that are common around the world due to summer solstice and further religions celebrations of Saint Jhon. It brings influence of the countries colonizing Brazil like Portugal, Spain, France and China. This year it has had a bit of a World Cup influence as well!
Finally, the best publicity video in English for Belo Horizonte I have watched so far. It covers all the main aspects that Minas Gerais is well known for.
